Every December 31st is special because it lets you draw an imaginary line and sum up how you spent the last 365 days.
You want to say "goodbye" to all the nonsense and "bonjour" to everything good 😉
So we turn on God is An Astronaut - New Years End and let's go.
- The biggest moment was probably the sudden growth of the kids Almost without noticing, it hit me how grown-up they became in just one year. And they only turned 2 in 2025.
- I became a minivan driver 🫠 Before 2023, that sentence would have sounded ridiculous. I was never a fan of huge cars, especially with sliding doors. But, as it turns out, life had other plans.
- I said goodbye to a project I worked on for the last 5 years It's not easy to part with a team and the result of your work, but I was there from the very beginning and brought the project to a stable, complete product. An incredible experience-one you don’t often get in outsourcing.
- I improved my padel skills. It’s hard to say what level I’m at right now, but weekly personal training sessions are slowly adding technique. What’s left is to improve my physical shape and finally jump into some proper competitions.
- I realized that with kids, there’s no energy left for reading Almost all free time goes either to watching something on TV or mindless surfing on the computer or phone. No energy left for books - sad, but true.
- I burned out By the end of the year, my brain was barely functioning. Simple tasks took more time than they did six months ago. I probably need to finally get some proper sleep… or retire already. But neither is an option for now 🥲
- No progress on restoring my baby-benz There was simply no time and no “free” money to keep working on restoring my beauty. Hopefully, 2026 will be more productive in this regard.
- I don’t write enough The main goal of this blog was to post weekly, but I only manage 1-2 posts a month. We’ll change that 📝
Overall, it was a good year - though a chaotic one. I hope 2026 will be much nicer. Life is slowly getting into a rhythm, and both the kids and I are getting used to daily routines.
I’ll talk about plans for 2026 in the next post.
